Quick Tips for Wedding Planning

We have met with many excited couples planning their upcoming weddings and thought we'd share some helpful hints on Wedding Planning from a photographer's standpoint. We love our diverse clientele and have learned a lot from each consultation. Here are some quick tips to ensure you get the photographs you want on the day of your wedding, regardless of your style:

• Meet with your photographer in person, if possible, months before your big day to solidify she is a good fit for you - only so much can be expressed over email/phone.
• Create a "must have" photo list prior to your wedding, both with the types of photos you'd like and the people you want in those photos. Most likely your photographer will email you a questionnaire, however, it should be made very clear what you want. Some couples prefer to have a very specific list of shots they want. Don't be afraid to be as detailed as you like! If you have your grandmother's handkerchief and want a photo of your grandmother giving you the handkerchief in your wedding gown, then let your photographer know!
• If you're camera shy, let the photographer know so they can work their magic and appear "incognito" during your wedding. The best candids are captured when couples feel comfortable and relaxed.
• Ensure your photographer is organized and is not afraid to talk to the other venders at the wedding. Specifically, your photographer should be coordinating the wedding day details with the officiant and DJ.  
• Be sure to have a key "go to" person on your wedding day that the photographer can use as a resource for questions. This is often one of the bridesmaids, the wedding coordinator or a close relative. 

Most importantly, it is your job as a couple to enjoy your day and leave the details up to those around you!  Delegate, delegate, delegate... and delegate some more!
